One of my favorite characters from Lord of the Rings is Eowyn, the White Lady of Rohan. When the movies came out, I fell in love with her wardrobe, even more so than with Arwen's. One of my favorite outfits is the one that's been nicknamed the Shieldmaiden dress. Beautiful yet practical (well, moreso than anything of Arwen's).
This recreation is an attempt to strictly follow one of the bliaut patterns found in Katherine Strand Holkeboer's Patterns for Theatrical Costumes, as an example of what the finished product is like.
